How you define success as a leader?
How you define success as a leader? Is it your results? Is it your team? Is it how comfortable you feel in leading?
This is a short shout out to the leaders of small businesses, family businesses, teams and anyone who is willing to take on the challenge of leading others. It takes ownership, accountability and a fair dose of responsibility to successfully lead others.
The path is rarely a straight line – it is often messy, it can feel like you are going backwards and you have been ‘here’ before.
Perhaps today is the day to take a moment to be grateful for the team that you have, and realise that you are much further on your path to success than when you started.

This fantastic video from ted.com is by Tom Wujek, and discusses the differences in approach to solving the ‘Marshmallow Challenge’. At Kameleons, we have used this activity in a variety of settings; in our MetaMorph team development program for Schools right through to our Diploma of Management Groups (Team Effectiveness and Manage Projects modules). The effectiveness of this activity is its simplicity and the consistency of results and behaviours. As Tom mentions in his video, the actions of management groups differs greatly from the behaviour of young School students. Having conducted this activity more than 100 times, we can varify that many of Tom’s observations match our Australian experience.
Managers could use their training budgets far more effectively if they thought about problems in their business the same way as they thought about their own health.
