The Velocity
Leadership Checkpoint

The Velocity Leadership Checkpoint (VLC) is Developing Leaders’ leadership assessment and leadership profiling tool. It provides a snapshot of your current leadership behaviours, measuring your current strengths and development areas across 25 behaviour areas to provide clear guidance for you and your leadership coach / facilitator.

All of our leadership coaching, leadership programs and selected workshops start with it – providing clear direction and analysis for leadership training initiatives – a clear difference from other leadership providers using ‘off the shelf’ personality tests and profiles.

The Velocity Leadership Checkpoint considers 25 behavioural leadership traits, focussed in 5 distinct leadership capabilities: Achievement, Alignment, Awareness, Altitude, and Adaptability. This allows you to gain a clear understanding of your current performance and provides a platform for growth and development.

We understand that many businesses make expensive training decisions without fully understanding the behaviours they are seeking to change. The Velocity Leadership Checkpoint allows you or your business to measure skills and behaviours before a training event takes place, as well as measure the effectiveness of development initiatives once they are completed.

The results from the Velocity Leadership Checkpoint provide you with clear guidance regarding current leadership performance and helps make informed decisions regarding coaching and training initiatives.

The tailored debrief following checklist completion helps discuss actionable items that will have an impact on your ability to align your team, raise the altitude, achieve more, have greater awareness of your and your team’s abilities and adapt to external environments.

What It Is

  • It is a snapshot in time – a checkpoint – of your current leadership behaviours, both strength and development areas.
  • It is a measure of ‘optimum’ leadership behaviours, not the highest scores. Strengths can become weaknesses when over- or improperly used
  • It provides specific results on easy to understand, measurable leadership traits and behaviours.
  • It is a leadership development tool. Every one of the 25 leadership behaviour traits measured are able to be developed; they are not absolutes (all or nothing).
  • It is your assessment of your leadership behaviours, not someone else’s incomplete, subjective assessment of part of you.

What It's Not

  • It’s not a personality test, nor is it indicative of how your leadership skills and behaviours have been in the past, or how they will be in the future.
  • It’s not a reflection on your character or ability as a leader.
  • It’s not a validated or ’normed’ profile. Your scores are not adjusted to fit a bell curve or adjusted for a mean score.
